2020 taps and dies

How to use Taps and die sets in engineering .

What is tap and die used for in Engineering

Taps and dies are tools used to make screw threads

When would you use a tap for a thread

after you drill a hole in your metal

Does the hole need to be bigger or smaller , explain why .

you have to use the same size you drilled your hole because
if it is to small it could bind or break if the hole is too large the threads will be too shallow and may strip out or fail

Find a chart for A METRIC TAPPING THREAD SIZE.

What are the different types of tap ( taper, intermediate, bottom ) explain the difference between them

f you are tapping a hole that goes through the material then the taper tap is the one to use the other two are to allow you to make a thread down to the bottom of a blind hole

and would be used in turn after starting the thread with the taper tap.

Japan

I learnt that people from Okinawa live really long. The average life expectancy is 83 years old.

Rice is a cultural practice of Japan.Rice is so important in Japanese society that it has been called the essence of the culture. Historically, wet rice cultivation was a labour-intensive task that could not be accomplished easily. As a result, families pooled their labour. More importantly, they also shared their water resources and irrigation facilities.

The population of Japan is 126.5 million

The population of New Zealand is 4.8 million.

Character paragraph TWTWB.

A key moment for Ellie, in Tomorrow when the War began, is when she blows up the lawnmower. It is an important moment for her as a character because it was the first time she has ever killed someone which results in trauma. In chapter seven, Ellie and two of her friends are hiding from the invaders. At this moment she is scared that her and her friends are going to get caught. Ellie thinks quickly to develop a plan to protect her friends and escape from the soldiers by using the lawnmower as a bomb by putting a rag in the gas-tank and lighting it. This moment shows the reader that Ellie is brave, smart, and capable of leadership. A quote that shows Ellie’s courage is on page 90 “for the first time I saw their faces and struck the match”. This quote shows that Ellie’s action saved their lives in a life and death situation. This is a moment that stays with Ellie for a long time.

Introduction to lathe

Diagram of a Lathe with explanantion of components

lathe is a machine tool that rotates a work piece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing, and turning, with tools that are applied to the work piece to create an object with symmetry about that axis.

Facing off is taking the metal at the end of the
work to make it flat.
turning down is where you reduce the diameter of the work

Brainstorm - English

Brainstorm:

What is happening:
Reaping scene 2 - tributes selected to computer in hunger games
- best dressed
- in the capital, Katniss & peeta just getting off the train, have never been there before.
- in the arena of the hunger games

Describe Costumes:
Light colours, natural tones, old fashion, simple,
Bright, colourful, neon, extravagant, vibrant, oversized
- look most expensive and more fancy than casual
- over the top excessive, more than needed to be practical
- hair pieces to match wigs
- both genders over the top outfits/wigs/makeup
- practical - suitable for fighting
- jackets, boots, shirts, long pants,
- colours that will match the surroundings and help them hide
- tells us about the climate in the arena
- not going far as much

- Boys:
Dros shirts, pants or shorts
- Girls:
hair tidy, dresses, or skirts.
Colours:
Cold, clean, faded - washed and worn a lot, older clothes getting mended.

Effect on viewer/Think/feel:
Thinks they are poor - because clothes are outdated
- peacekeeper/Effie in new clean outfits
- think it is bad living - emotionless, all the colour has been drained,
- think they are rich/greed
- fashion is shocking/scary to the viewers in your face
- shows us how shocked/different things are for katniss and peeta
- feel like they are dressed for war/hunting - all dressed same uniform
- all look the same everyone has the same advantage.
- makes us less emotionally attached to individuals

Director purpose:
-Show the comparison/juxtaposition of the district to the capital
- Shows theme rich vs poor because district doesn't have access to resources like new clothing
- again shows us theme rich vs poor the people in the capital live in extreme luxury compared to the poverty of district 12
- people in the capital have everything

Other techniques:
- make up over the top caked on so we know they have lots of men/women both

Make up - Style = status, Effies eye lashes are long + pink and her
face is white. the district has no make up no access or need for it

Setting:
concrete, metal, glass, clean, crisp, futuristic, technologically advanced

Reaping scene:

In the reaping, scene, costume is used effectively to show the theme "Rich vs Poor". For example, the potential tributes are dressed in formal shirts, skirts and trousers. their clothes are well-worn, weathered and dull. This make us understand the people in District 12 are poor because their best clothes are old and faded compared to the Capitol Representative Effie Trinket. This is done to show the juxtaposition between the extreme wealth of the Capitol and the poverty of those in District 12. This worked well with the use of make-up as shown by Effie. She has lots of make-up on including long pink eyelashes on, an extremely white foundation and pink and gold lips. This tells the viewer that she is wealthy because she can afford extravagant make-up when those in District 12 can barely afford clothes. This aspect can be compared to the scene where the tributes arrive off the train in the Capitol. here we see luxury and excess wealth in the costumes of the Capitol citizens compared to the rags worn by Peeta and Katniss.

Science Experiment

AIM - To observe a neutralisation

Method - First put a drop of Acid in a test tube with a drop of base and add some universal indicator
add more drops of acid base and universal in to a test tube to make different colours.

Results - Universal indicator With Acid and base would either turn red, blue or brown.

Discussion - The Acid with universal indicator went red because their was more acid than base in the test tube and the base went blue because their was more base then acid.

Conclusion - Our experiment went alright we made a green blue and red. Acids, Bases and pH | Good Science

reading out the names, calm at first, then screaming - sister bond

Showing she cared about rue

willing to die together, Katniss rebelling against the propaganda of their has to be a winner,

voice over urgently saying stop Katniss has beaten them at their own game,

she embarrassed the capital.

first capital beaten at their own game, 1st time 2 victors.

showing that the games will not change her

- district 12 first volunteer, Only thing stronger than fear,

Colour and lighting - the interview - saturated colours, very bright, neon, very artificial cold light

District 12 - dull colours, bland, natural colours, dark light, cold light.

Propaganda

What is it - Information that gives a bias opinion

Where do we see it - Video from the capitol, the games it self is propaganda - all the tributes.
